LEWISTON – Lewiston Public Library will offer Booking It with Babies at 10 a.m. every Monday, starting Jan. 9. Children’s Librarian David Schumacher of Damariscotta will be the guest baby-time reader.

“Besides being a lot of fun,” Schumacher said, “rhymes and finger plays help in language acquisition and word forming. We are finding that many parents of this generation were never exposed to traditional rhymes and are delighted to learn about them.”

Adults will sit with their child and sing along and act out rhymes. The program will be presented on a flip chart and lasts between 20 and 30 minutes. First-time attendees will receive a Booking It with Babies bag with baby information and a board book.

Babies love to listen and as they grow they begin to join in and learn the sounds and actions. The sessions are free and open to all and are an opportunity for adults and toddlers to make new friends.
