Rumford Falls – The victim of colored crayon, Florette Giroux, the 18 months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Giroux of this place, who died Wednesday, was buried this afternoon.
Last Wednesday afternoon the little girl was taken to the home of her uncle, Joseph Boivin. While at play she found several pieces of ordinary colored chalk, which she ate. One hour later she was unconscious and in a hopeless condition. Dr. L.O. Lesieur, formerly of Lewiston, was called. He at once knew that it was a hopeless case, but remained with the suffering child until just before she died, which was 11 o’clock that night.

The alleged failure of S.S. Kresge Co. to install different type windows at its new Park Street entrance was raised by a Lewiston alderman last night and the complaint was referred to Corporation Counsel Philip M. Isaacson for study.
“I’ve gotten complaints from several people who feel we are allowing Park Street to be turned into an alley.” stated Ward Three Alderman Emile Jacques. “When Kresge came before us to expand their building, they said they would put up the type of windows like those at Ward Brothers, or at least like those at Woolworth’s. The people who came to me say the property values are being lessened because of the windows they’ve put in.”

WASHINGTON – In the face of protests across the country, a Supreme Court challenge and the opposition of President-elect Ronald Reagan, the Selective Service on Monday began registering teen-agers born in 1962 for a possible future military draft.
Sixteen demonstrators were arrested for conducting a sit-in and blocking entry to the draft registration office in the federal building in Boston, while another 40 protesters clogging the lobby chanted, “One, two, three, four, we don’t want your macho war!”
