LEWISTON – Central Maine Medical Center will sponsor a new series of yoga classes beginning Tuesday, Jan. 10.

Yoga instructor Marcy Covey will introduce participants to the world of relaxation and rejuvenation through yoga. The program will focus on centering and balance through yoga poses, breathing exercises, meditation and relaxation. Each class will also include elements of Thai Yoga Bodywork, a type of massage that encourages the balancing of energy lines and deep stretching.

Covey is an experienced health and wellness educator who has worked in the field for more than 20 years. She holds a variety of health and wellness certifications and is certified in Thai Yoga Bodywork.

“Yoga helps us to be more balanced, flexible and peaceful in ourselves,” Covey said. “It helps to alleviate headaches, panic, depression and tight muscles. It also helps us to have the wisdom to make good choices for our lives.”

Classes will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays or from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays. For more information or to register, call 795-2473.
