HARTFORD – John Cleveland of Community Dynamics presented the Board of Selectmen with final plans and a cost estimate for the salt/sand shed.

Residents will vote on the project Jan. 19.

The storage building will be a laminated wood arch type for 3,500 cubic yards of sand. Cleveland estimates the cost to be around $202,500 but is recommending the sum of $220,000 be voted on. This is the amount selectmen will request at the special town meeting.

Though the ledge at the building site is stable, Cleveland is not sure if the ledge will be as large as the building, which would entail more fill dirt and gravel.

In other business, the board appointed Terry Smith as an alternate on the Planning Board and Willy Bragg was appointed to the Road Committee.

Selectmen approved assessor John E. O’Donnell’s and Associates’ request for an additional $3,750. This puts the amount paid the assessors at around $12,000.

Board Chairman David Bowen said he had spoken with O’Donnell and though there was considerable extra work involved in this year’s assessment, he hoped that next year the cost would be closer to $10,000.

The board also approved taking up to $400 from the office equipment fund to replace the office printer that is several years old and cannot be used with the present computer.

There will be a special selectmen’s meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, to sign the warrant for the special town meeting. The Jan. 19 board meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in the town office before the special town meeting at the town hall.
