FARMINGTON – Alan R. Ladd, 43, of Wilton, died Friday, Jan. 6, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, Farmington.

He was born Jan. 9, 1962, in Farmington, a son of Warren R. and Shirley A. (Tibbets) Ladd.

He attended school in New Sharon and Farmington and was a graduate of Mount Blue High School in 1980.

He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1981 to 1983 as a mechanic and was certified as a marksman.

For several years he worked in New York as a mechanic, and for many years worked in the woods as a lumberman along side his father.

He loved tinkering in the backyard – his family remembers “if he was greasy, he was happy.” He loved lumbering, was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing, camping and family outings.

In addition to his parents of New Sharon, he is survived by his wife, Marlenys (Belyesta) Ladd of Wilton, whom he married Sept. 18, 2004; three daughters, Jasmine, Alanha and Cortnie Ladd, all of Wilton; two sons, Richard Ladd of Farmington, and Damian Ladd of Wilton; a granddaughter, Kaylie Ladd; a sister, Deborah D’Hulst of Mercer; a brother, Troy Ladd and his wife, Angie, of Jay; three nieces; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Alan’s family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff, doctors and especially the nurses of Franklin Memorial Hospital for the loving care given to him and their family.
