AUGUSTA – Anita C. Gary, 84, of Augusta, died Friday, Jan. 6, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Augusta.

She was born in Skowhegan on Sept. 7, 1921, the daughter of Ben and Eugenia (Staples) Collins. She attended Waterford Schools, Bridgton Academy and graduated from Cony High School in 1940.

She married Earle Gary on Jan. 24, 1948.

She operated a licensed daycare center in her home for several years.

She was a member of the South Parish Congregational Church, UCC.

She is survived by a son, Peter E. Gary of Glassboro, N.J.; four daughters, Coleen Bryant and her husband, Herbert, of Augusta, Janice L. Gary of Augusta, Ethel Cooper and her husband, Tom, of Orlando, Fla., and Janet L. Smith and her husband, Michael, of Orlando, Fla.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Earle in 1997.
