BUCKFIELD – Ivan and Gerry Smith of Buckfield and Pinellas Park, Fla., happily celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 1. The celebration took place at the Masonic Hall in Buckfield, where the couple have been members of the Masons and the Eastern Star for many years.

The party hosts were the couple’s four sons and their wives and friends, sons, Richard and his wife, Paula, Randal and his wife, Julie, Dale and his friend, Debra, and Daniel and his fiancee, Sandy.

The beautiful, tiered anniversary cake was made and decorated by daughter-in-law, Paula Smith. Grandson Allen Smith, son of Randy and Julie, served as DJ/MC for the event.

The children of the couple and other family members supplied many pictures of the family over the course of their 50 years to have on display throughout the hall. The happy couple was showered by cards from their friends at Golden Gate, their church friends and the Red Hat Society in Florida. The couple also received many nice gifts and cards from the guests who were able to attend the fun event.

The hall was full of guests from as far away as California, New York, and all over New England. Many of the guests spend time between Maine and Florida and had changed their travel plans so they could be part of this happy event.

Mr. Smith and the former Geraldine Curtis were married on Oct. 1, 1955, in Norway.
