MONMOUTH – Evan Manocal drained a game-high 17 points to carry Lisbon to a 53-37 victory over Monmouth in a boys’ basketball game Saturday.

Mike Wilkins and Zach Bubar chipped in with 10 and nine points, respectivley for the Greyhounds (4-3).

Ben Seefeldt scored 12 points on four 3-pointers for Monmouth (0-7).

Mt. Abram 66, Carrabec 31

SALEM – Tyson Chase drained 14 points and pulled down a game-high 22 rebounds, 16 of which came in the first half, to lead Mt. Abram to a 66-31 victory over Carrabec in a boys’ basketball matchup Saturday.

Jordan Norton scored a game-high 16 points for Mt. Abram.

The Roadrunners (5-4) held a 40-9 halftime lead.

Carrabec (2-6) had no players with double figures.

Winthrop 74, Jay 30

WINTHROP – Winthrop had four players in double-digit scoring, with Tyler Smithgall leading the way with 18 points, as the Ramblers crushed Jay 74-30 in MVC boys’ basketball action Saturday.

The Ramblers (8-0) press led them to a 46-12 lead at halftime. Mike Gingras contributed 15 points, while Nate Damm and Sam Leclerc chipped in with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Nick Gulliver recorded a double-double, pacing the Tigers (1-8) with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Hockey

Poland-G-NG 6, Sanford 2

HEBRON – Ryan Gilbert found the back of the net twice to lead the Poland Gray-New Gloucester Knights to a 6-2 victory over Sanford in a ice hockey matchup Saturday.

Ben Piper drew first blood with a goal off a pass from Gilbert at the 10:17 mark of the first period.

The Knights’ defense held Sanford to just nine shot the entire game.

Alex Belmont assisted on both of Sanfords goals.

Thornton 4, EL 0

AUBURN – Goaltender Dan Laskey stopped all 28 shots he faced to lead Thornton to a 4-0 victory over Edward Little in a Class A hockey game Saturday.

Craig Perham netted a pair of goals, while Nick Laskey had two assists for Thronton (3-3). Adam Loudermilk had 21 saves in net for the Red Eddies (2-5). Girls’ basketball

St. Doms 37, Sacopee 33

AUBURN – Abby Gilbert scored a team-high 14 points to lead St. Dom’s to a 37-33 overtime girls’ basketball victory over Sacopee Valley in a girls’ varsity basketball contest Saturday.

Katie Landry chipped in with eight for the Saints. The Saints had a 24-16 lead at halftime, but were held to just seven points in the second half by the Sacopee defense. In overtime, St. Dom’s defense held Sacopee to just two points to seal the victory.

Sacopee’s Michelle Libby led all scorers with 15 points.

Jay 71, Winthrop 62

WINTHROP – Freshman guard Liz LeBlanc scored a team-high 22 points to lead Jay to a 71-62 win over Winthrop in MVC girls’ basketball action Saturday.

Junior point guard Kaylie DeMillo recorded a double-double for the Tigers (6-3) with 17 points and 10 assists, while senior forward Jessica LaBrecque offered up 15 points and eight rebounds.

Jay was perfect from the foul line in the fourth quarter, sinking all 16 shots for a 28-of-34 overall.

Senior center Emily Knight led all scorers with a game-high 23 points and 12 rebounds to notch a double-double for the Ramblers (6-2). Junior guards Katie Pushard and Amanda Garwood scored 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Yarmouth 50, Poland 41

POLAND – Meredith Shaw scored 15 first-half points as Yarmouth sailed to a 50-41 win over Poland in WMC girls’ basketball action Saturday.

The Clippers (4-3) led 30-19 at the half.

The Knights (2-6) tightened up their defensive effort in the second half to shut down powerhouse Shaw. But it was too little to late as Poland did not recover from the scoring deficit.

Paige Piper paced the Knights with 15 points.
