TURNER – A man was arrested and a woman slightly injured after a three-car crash Friday during the evening rush hour, police said.

The accident closed down the northbound lane of Route 4 for roughly two hours, said Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. James Jacques.

Bobby A. Goodwin, 30, of Lincoln Street was allegedly driving drunk southbound shortly after 5 p.m. when the 1996 Chevrolet pickup truck he was driving crossed into oncoming traffic, Jacques said.

His truck struck a 1995 Oldsmobile driven by Jean Gardner, 41, of Pleasant View Acres, Lewiston. She suffered injuries to her wrist and chest, but refused medical transport.

Goodwin’s truck also hit the 2001 Ford pickup truck that had been following Gardner. Priscilla Bothel, 39, of Kimball Avenue, Mexico, escaped injury, Jacques said.

The impact of the crash sent flying into the road paving equipment that had been stored in the back of the pickup truck Goodwin was driving. Volunteers from the Turner Fire Department helped county deputies gather the debris.

Goodwin was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence by a Maine State Police trooper and booked at Androscoggin County Jail. He was later released on $250 cash bail, Jacques said.
