Teachers should be allowed to put their hands on our children when they are being disrespectful, disruptive and are out of control. The Rangeley incident is a culmination of frustration that most adults feel today when trying to control out-of-control children.

What punishment was given to the young lady who was slapped, a slap that would have been better served had it been firmly planted on her behind? Why wasn’t the young lady arrested for disorderly conduct? It’s been done to younger children. And since the teacher is being banned from teaching, the child should be banned from school. Although we’ve sacrificed a good teacher, removing the child would stop the disruptions in class.

What kind of message is the Sun Journal sending our young people by telling them that this teacher was not just wrong but completely out of line? Look at the terrible facts that children are murdering children and committing more and more violent crimes every day. Children are looking for, and finding, discipline through gangs.

We are learning a hard lesson of sparing the rod. If you really want to stop child violence, bullying, and disrespect in school, bring back spanking. Yes, the thick paddle with holes in it.
