LIVERMORE FALLS – Two people were injured Monday in a near head-on collision on Route 133. One had a head injury and the other a broken foot, police said Monday.

Clista Darveau, 54, of Livermore Falls was headed south on Route 133, also known as Park Street, toward Wayne when it appears she lost control on the slippery road in front of George Allen’s house at 657 Park St., Livermore Falls Police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said Monday.

The Escort that Darveau was driving appears to have crossed the center line and slid into the path of a vehicle driven by Mark Castonguay, 19, of Livermore Falls, who was heading north, Steward said.

The damage to Darveau’s vehicle was on the passenger side by the front wheel and the damage to the Ford Probe that Castonguay was driving was mostly on the front center, the chief said.

Darveau was taken to by NorthStar Emergency Services ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with a head injury and Castonguay was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, Steward said.

Firefighters responded to assist the chief and officer Rich Cusson and to get Darveau out of the vehicle.

Traffic was blocked off on both lanes for a while after the 3:41 p.m. accident.

Police were still trying to piece the accident together Monday night, Steward said.

Both the 1996 Escort, registered to John Darveau of Livermore Falls, and the 1994 Probe registered to Richard Zale of Livermore Falls, were totaled, he said.
