The winners from Lewiston Middle School are: 1st place, Shane Eliasen; 2nd place, Hanan Ahmed; and 3rd place, Morgan Hubbard.
The contest was about who are today’s patriots. The prizes were money, plaques, and a cake. First place winner received $100, second $75, and third $50.
After the winners were announced, Shane said, “I didn’t expect to win, I just tried my hardest.” Shane and Hanan are both from Mrs. Sue Reny’s first period class, and Morgan is in her fourth period class.
How does it feel to win? Shane said, “It feels good. It’s about my mom because she’s in the airforce, but the money is good!” Hanan said, “I am just happy because I won second place!” Morgan commented, “I am shocked because I didn’t expect to win, but she said it was great!”
Their stories will go on to district. If they win, they will go onto the state level and then the national. Who knows what will happen after that! Good luck Shane, Hanan, and Morgan.
