CARTHAGE – The board of selectmen will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at the Municipal Building.

Homemakers

PERU – The Peru Extension Homemakers will meet at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at the Peru School. The subject will be “Egypt” with Nancy Knox as leader. Members should bring a bag lunch.

Cheering contest

JAY – The 19th annual Mountain Valley Conference Cheering Championship will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, at Jay High School. Teams from Boothbay, Monmouth Academy, Lisbon, Winthrop, Livermore Falls, Mountain Valley, Dirigo, Jay and Carrabec will compete.

Gates will open at 8:30 a.m. and competition will start at 11. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for students.

Public dinner

PERU – Families in Crisis Task Force will hold a public roast beef dinner with all the fixings at noon Monday, Jan. 16, at the Rockemeka Grange Hall.
