FARMINGTON – More than 100 Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts throughout Franklin County participated in a Cookie Badge Day event on Jan. 6 at the University of Maine at Farmington. Brownies earned the Cookie Try-it and Juniors earned their Cookie Connection Badge.

The event was planned and led by 13 Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts under the direction of Service Unit Manager Cathy Rogers. Each girl was responsible for leading a workshop.

To earn the Cookie Count Try-It, girls completed the requirements of setting goals, good manners, fun on the job, cookie talk and being a good friend and neighbor. Senior Girl Scout Heather Emmons worked on good manners, Senior Scout Caitlin Kennedy worked on being a good friend and neighbor, Senior Scout Kayla Karkos and Cadette Scout Sabrina Kennedy worked on fun and with change.

Cadette Scouts Marisa Mitchell and Morghan Packard work on fun on the job and Cadette Scout Nicole Phillips worked on cookie talk. Unit Cookie Supervisor Chris Deon helped the Brownies with goal setting.

To earn the Cookie Connection Badge, girls completed requirements such as five ways to sell cookies, cookie know-how, touch cookies, cookies under wrap, safe sales and cookie creativity.

Cadette Rebekah Dunham worked on cookie know-how, Cadette Lillian Dunham worked on cookies under wrap, Cadette Shannon Mitchell worked on safe sales, Cadette Desiree Therrien worked on being bold, Senior Scouts Erin Gray worked on cookie creativity and Kim Hand worked on tough cookies.
