LEWISTON – Joe Stachowiak dropped in 12 points to lead Lewiston over Leavitt, 56-42, in a Class A boys’ basketball game Friday night.
The two teams got off to a fast-paced start, combining for 37 points in the first quarter, but the Blue Devils (7-4) were able to take advantage as the game slowed down. Yashin Omar and Jared Turcotte each netted 10 points for Lewiston.
Cam Angell led all scorers with 17 points for the Hornets, and Tyler Millet added 11.
Oxford Hills 46, Mt. Ararat 45
SOUTH PARIS – Senior guard Ben Ryerson scored the game-clincher at the buzzer in overtime to lift Oxford Hills to a 46-45 win over Mt. Ararat in KVAC boys’ basketball action Friday.
The Vikings (6-4) took an early 17-10 lead. Ryerson was joined by sophomore guard Colton Weymouth and senior forward Jake Cash with nine points apiece.
Both teams struggled to earn points in the final quarter, only to end regulation in a tie. Junior guard Andy Pelletier recorded a game-high 10 points for the Eagles (2-9).
Aaron Leaver put Mt. Ararat up by two with 20 seconds remaining in overtime, but Ryerson stole the victory with a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Maranacook 81, Rockland 55
READFIELD – Sophomore guard Ryan Martin deposited 23 points to lead Maranacook to an 81-55 win over Rockland in KVAC boys’ basketball action Friday.
Junior forward Kevin Leary contributed 15 points, while sophomore guard Mike Poulin and senior center Bryce Spalding picked up 10 points each for the Bears (9-0).
The Tigers (5-5) played even in the 14-14 fourth quarter. Senior guard Ben Bandanza-Sturks had a team-high 14, points, while freshman guard Teel Ilvonen tallied 11 points.
Hockey
Poland/G-NG 7, Marshwood 3
DOVER, N.H. – Dylan Michaud and Ryan Gilbert each knocked home three goals as the Poland/Gray-New Gloucester hockey team reversed a 3-0 second-period deficit for a 7-3 win over Marshwood in hockey action Friday.
Michaud also dished out a pair of helpers, and Corey Cormier had a goal and an assist as Poland/GNG (4-3) scored five goals on 29 shots in the final period to turn the tables on Marshwood.
Travis Tease had a goal and an assist to help Marshwood out to the early lead.
Sean Bilodeau stopped 29 shots between the pipes for Poland/G-NG. Mark Haley had 37 stops for Marshwood.
