AUBURN-It took a team of 20 law enforcement officers, a K-9 unit and an airplane, about two hours to corral a Franklin County Jail inmate who escaped while being transported from Franklin County Jail to the Androscoggin County Jail Friday afternoon.

Travis Enman, 22, and another prisoner were being driven from Franklin County to Androscoggin County Jail when, at 2:13 p.m., Enman escaped when the cruiser he had been riding in stopped at the intersection of Route 4 and Tidswell Road in Turner.

Enman was tracked by Androscoggin K-9, Youno, and located in a wooded area off Tidswell Road at 4:31 p.m. He has been charged with escape and assaulting a police K-9.

Twelve members of the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department participated in the search, assisted by Maine State Police, Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Enman was transported to the Androscoggin County Jail by the Androscoggin County Jail.
