AUBURN – Independent Women evened its record at 1-1 in the Auburn Rec Women’s Slowdown Basketball League with a 31-18 victory over Young Ones. Jessica Day led the winners with 8 points. Mindy Levesque added 5. Melissa Bilodeau collected 12 for Young Ones. Pauline Veinott was next with 11.

SOCHS gained a 34-28 win over Lady Ballers. Amanda Carrol paced the winners with 11 points. Dawn Gilbert added 8. The losers were led by Jen Small (9) and Jen Robitaille (8).

YMCA tops Gardiner

AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA Pee Wee Travel Team edged Gardiner 33-30 to even its record at 2-2 in the Central Maine Third-Fourth-Grade Basketball League.

Dante Brooks sparked the winners with 16 points. Cam Cormier added 7 and Llewellyn Jensen 4. Matt Clark collected 15 for Gardiner. John Armstrong added 8 and Brad Weston 5.

AAU tourneys set

Dates have been established for the State of Maine AAU Basketball Tournaments.

The girls’ tourney is set for April 8-9 and 15-16. The boys’ event is slated for April 29-30 and May 6-7.

An End of Winter League is scheduled to begin Feb. 19 and continue through March 19, two games every Sunday for school and AAU teams.

The AAU annual meeting is set for Sunday, Jan. 29 at the Howard Sports Dome in Topsham, the girls at 11 a.m. and the boys at 12:30.

There will be an open tryout for any player (boy or girl) on Feb. 12 from 3-5 p.m. at Howard Sports in Saco. Coaches are invited.
