METHUEN, Mass. – David M. Bakeman, 80, of Derry, N.H., died Monday morning, Jan. 16, at the Holy Family Hospital.

Mr. Bakeman was born in Everett, Mass., where he attended local schools. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and he worked as a greenskeeper for the Haverhill Country Club for 40 years until his retirement in 2001. A resident of Haverhill from 1955 until 1968, he served as a Haverhill reserve police officer in the early 1960s.

He was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church, Haverhill, Mass., and until moving to Derry in 1968. He was a radio-controlled and model airplane enthusiast and member of several model airplane clubs.

The husband of the late Lillian (Muse) Bakeman who died in 1979, he is survived by his wife of 23 years, Sharron J. (Carter) Bakeman; three daughters, Carol Driscoll and her husband, Ken, of Duxbury, Mass., Wendy Lavallee and her husband, Leonard, of Hampstead, N.H., and Gail Dolan, of Jay; two sisters, Charlotte Bessler, of Chelsea, Mass., and Ruth Lewis, of Everett, Mass.; five grandchildren, Beth Good, Megan Greenstein, Laurie Driscoll, Timothy Dolan and Steven Dolan; two great-grandchildren, Madeline Greenstein and Tristen Dolan; and several nieces and nephews.
