PHILLIPS – A Phillips man was arrested on charges of unlawful sexual contact Friday after he and several witnesses were interviewed about incidents that occurred over the past three years, Detective David St. Laurent of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department said Monday.
Marc Carrier, 53, turned himself in at the jail and was charged with the Class C crime because of the age of his victim, St. Laurent said. The incidents allegedly happened at a residence in Avon and were perpetrated against a 15-year-old girl.
According to St. Laurent, the girl told a counselor in January that the man had touched her inappropriately on several occasions. The Sheriff’s Department was notified last week by the Department of Health and Human Services, which conducted a joint investigation with the law enforcement agency. St. Laurent said alcohol was involved.
Carrier was released Friday on $500 cash bail with conditions of no contact with the girl or anyone under the age of 16 and no alcohol. He is due to appear in court later this month.
