LEWISTON – Dr. Nedaa Skeik of Sabattus Street Primary Care will discuss bird flu at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at an Entres to Health presentation at the Lepage Conference Center, 99 Campus Ave.
He will explain how people can protect themselves in the event of a bird flu outbreak.
The rapid spread of avian, or bird flu, is common among birds, chickens and other fowl. The current outbreak, known as H5N1, is highly contagious among birds and can be transmitted to humans, causing severe illness and possibly death. Presently, no cases have been reported in the United States.
A healthy dinner will be served for a $5 charge. To register, call 753-5467. Those wishing to attend must prepay by Friday, Jan. 20. Make checks payable to Entres to Health and mail to Club 50, 100 Campus Ave., Suite 103, Lewiston, ME 04240.
