FARMINGTON – The Farmington Emblem Club 460 January meeting opened with a spaghetti and pasta dish supper. Honored guests were the winners of Farmington Emblem Club’s scholarships: Nicole Alexander, granddaughter of Emblem member Peggy Alexander; Ashley Bourassa, a graduate of Mt. Blue High School; Leah Pebbles of Strong; and Andrew Deering of Jay, grandson of Emblem member Jean Corcoran.

Alexander, who received the club’s roving scholarship, attends Kennebec Valley Community College. Bourassa attends the University of Maine in Orono; Peebles, Keene State College in New Hampshire; and Deering, Maine Maritime Academy.

The checks were presented by Farmington club past president and now Maine Emblem Club President Constance Small. Family members were also guests. Each recipient told a little about themselves.

Also honored at the supper were Small and several other officers for the state Emblem Club.

Club President Quinnale Kinsey called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Three new members, Cleo Barker, Brenda Bouchard and Jodi Cordes, were installed into the club by Small. A prayer was said by State Chaplain Cathy McCollett, and the charge given by State Marshal Nancy Crosby.

Shannon Smith gave a report on the Emblem-sponsored Valentine dance to take place at the Elks Lodge on Saturday, Feb. 11. Tickets are on sale at Mickey’s Hallmark and Leona’s Hair Salon in Farmington and at Paula’s Hair in West Farmington.

An Emblem Club-sponsored Longerberger Basket Beano will be held in April at the lodge.

Past President Rebecca Powell will be sworn in as the Livermore Falls post master on Wednesday, Feb. 1. Emblem Club members will present a flag-folding ceremony. The event will take place at Murray Hall in Livermore Falls.

A flag set will be purchased for the Bass room at Franklin Memorial Hospital. A donation will be made toward oil for the home of a local family with illness in the family. The mystery gift was won by Judy Lane and the 50/50 raffle by Shannon Smith.
