LISBON FALLS – Lisbon Adult Education still has openings in classes that start in late January and early February. Academic courses are offered for all levels.

Courses that meet college prerequisite requirements include Algebra I, which starts on Monday Jan. 23; Biology with Lab, Thursday, Jan. 26; and Physics with Lab, Monday, Jan. 23. Students taking these courses for college preparation or for high school diploma credit need only pay nominal lab and book fees to take the courses.

Courses offered for high school diploma credit include consumer math, starting on Wednesday, Jan. 25; Maine Literature, Tuesday, Jan. 24; and U.S. History through Film, Thursday, Jan. 26. All academic classes meet from 6 to 9 p.m. For information about the high school diploma program, call the Adult Education office at 353-3037.

A new course, “English for Speakers of Other Languages,” will be offered for adults. The class will focus on English basics and will include English skills needed for everyday living. The class will start on Wednesday, Jan. 25.

GED testing is offered from 2:30 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. Orientation is required for all new GED students. It is offered from 2:30 to 4 and 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursdays.

Electricity II – AC Circuits will start Tuesday, Jan. 24,and Accounting I on Thursday, Feb. 2. The class is recommended for beginners and for those seeking a refresher course. A QuickBooks class will start Wednesday, Feb. 1. It will teach the program basics.

An Introduction to Office class will start on Tuesday, Jan. 31, teaching the basics of the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Basic knowledge of computers is required.

A Microsoft Word class will start Monday, Jan. 30. For beginning computer users, a Computer Basics class will start Tuesday, Feb. 7. A Computerized Keyboarding I class will begin Monday, Feb. 6.

Other courses starting soon include Beginning American Sign Language, Monday, Jan. 30, and Writing Fiction, Wednesday, Feb. 8. A Family Valentine Workshop will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 1, suitable for children ages 4 through 12.
