SOUTH HAMILTON, Mass. – Despite playing shorthanded for nearly the entire second period, Hebron goalie John Glant kept Pingree off the scoreboard in a 5-0 hockey victory Wednesday.
Hebron (12-6-2) skated to a quick 1-0 lead when Matt Pedemonti scored 33 seconds into the contest.
After Mike Turk scored the lone goal in the second period, Hebron put the game away with a three-goal outburst by Jason Butler, Cameron Gosney and Jordan Krusch during a 10-minute span of the final frame.
Glant finished with 20 saves. Pingree goalie Nick Bradley faced 34 shots.
Poland/G-NG5, Bonny Eagle 4
GORHAM-Arnold Lajoie scored the game-winning goal in overtime as Poland-Gray-New Gloucester skated past Bonny Eagle 5-4 Wednesday night.
Dylan Michaud scored three goals and added an assist for Poland-Gray New Gloucester. Teammate Corey Cormier added a goal and three assist.
Men’s basketball
Husson 80, UMF 75
BANGOR – Buddy Leavitt scored 26 points to lead Husson past the University of Maine-Farmington.
Matt St. John and Travis Carrier led the Beavers with 18 points apiece.
Women’s basketball
UNH 63, Maine 59
DURHAM, N.H. – Whitney Edwards and Ray Williams scored 13 points apiece to lead New Hampshire past Maine, 63-59 on Wednesday in women’s basketball.
Maine’s Katie Whittier led all scorers with 16 points.
UMF 95, Husson 53
BANGOR – Kari Simpson had 20 points and 16 rebounds to lead the University of Maine at Farmington past Husson 95-53.
Girls’ basketball
Kents Hill 42, Hyde 28
BATH-Aleigh Mills scored 24 points and grabbed 15 redounds as Kents Hill rolled to a 42-28 victory over Hyde in girls’ basketball Wednesday.
Kents Hill’s ball-hawking defense created 17 steals to help insure the win.
Alessandra Rohde tossed in eight points and added six steals for undefeated Kent’s Hill (6-0).
Hyde’s effort was lead by Mahalia Gauld with 11 points.
St. Joe’s 59, Lasell College 52
STANDISH – Megan Farrell scored 15 points to lead St. Joe’s to s 59-52 victory over Lasell College in women’s basketball.
Brittany Rauscher dropped in 12 to for the Monks (7-7). Lasell (6-6) was paced by Justine Hill with a game-high 19 points.
