JAY – The National Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars has announced it will present scholarships to assist Auxiliary members who wish to further their education by pursuing a college degree or a career direction at a technical school.

The spouse, daughter or son of an Auxiliary member is also eligible to apply. Applicants must be at least age 18. The qualifying member must have belonged to the Auxiliary for a year prior to application.

One $1,000 scholarship will be presented each year to a selected candidate in each of the four Auxiliary VFW Conferences.

The next deadline for submitting the application is June 1. The application consists of questions regarding eligibility and Auxiliary information. There are questions about which college, university or vocational school the applicant plans to attend and planned major or course.

There are also questions about financial need and information about adjusted gross income from the family’s federal income tax return for the previous year. They also ask about any other financial aid.

In addition, a brief essay of 300 words or less describing commitment to the future and how the scholarship will help attain educational goals is requested.
