WILTON – WordPlay Theater will sponsor a Burns Night celebration at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, at the Boiler Room. That date is the birthday of Scotland’s great poet, Robert Burns, born in 1759.

Traditionally, Burns Night involves eating Scottish food and reciting Burns’ poems and songs. It is one of the biggest festive events in Scotland. There will be a planned program of poems and songs, but those attending are also invited to participate.

Reservations are recommended, since there will be limited seating. For reservations, call Sarah Sloane at 778-4770.

Those who wish to recite or sing something are asked to indicate what that would be. Copies of Burns’ poems will be available that night for any last-minute selections. A recommended donation to cover expenses is $5.

WordPlay Theater is a Farmington-based readers’ theater group that would like to see Burns Night become an annual event in the area.
