AUBURN – The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society will sponsor its sixth annual wine tasting as part of Auburn’s Winter Festival on Friday, Feb. 3. The event will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Ramada Inn and Conference Center, Lewiston.

Freeport Cheese and Wine proprietor Eric Fullagar will officiate at the tasting. Tickets are $25 a person and include wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres. All proceeds will benefit the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society.

To purchase tickets, call the shelter at 786-4713. Tickets are limited, so reservations are necessary.

The Humane Society provides a haven for approximately 3,600 sick, homeless and abused animals a year. Primary support comes from fundraising events and donations.

The shelter gives back through community services, including animal intake and adoption, animal health services, reuniting people with lost animals, humane education and working with individuals who are disadvantaged or developmentally disabled. The shelter serves 11 municipalities and a total population of more than 100,000.
