KINGFIELD – The Kingfield Planning Board will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, at Webster Hall.

Zoning hearing

FARMINGTON – The Farmington Planning Board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, at the Town Office prior to the public hearing on the proposed zoning ordinance amendments. The meeting will continue after the close of the hearing.

Lodge to meet

LIVERMORE FALLS – Charity Rebekah Lodge will meet Wednesday, Jan. 25, at the home of Marge Pritsky located in the bank building. Refreshments will be served at 12:30 p.m. prior to the 1:30 meeting. Hostesses will be Betty Gillespie and Pritsky.

The birthday of the founder of Odd Fellowship, Thomas Wildey, will be observed with an appropriate arrangement by Glennys Wilkins.

Parental training

PHILLIPS – Parents and child-care providers are invited to learn more about early-literacy development through a training opportunity offered by University of Maine at Farmington Early Literacy Specialist Sue Cheresnowsky in affiliation with the UMF Sweatt-Winter Child Care Center.

The training is free and open to the public and will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at the Halfway Down the Stairs Child Care Center in Phillips. The snow date is Tuesday, Jan. 31.

The session will address what early literacy means and will help provide adults with activities they can fit into their busy schedules to support their child’s emerging reading and writing abilities.

Busy Fingers

LIVERMORE FALLS – Anyone interested in the knit-crochet group, Busy Fingers, is welcome to an organizational meeting at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at Treat Memorial Library. Those attending are asked to bring their ideas, wishes, questions and know-how. Organizers hope to see a lot of interested people.

The week of Feb. 7 to 11, children can visit the library and make a valentine for their “sweetheart” anytime that the library is open. All supplies will be provided.

Story time for the little ones has had a time change. It will begin at 10:15 a.m. every third Wednesday. There will be stories, a craft to make and a nutritional snack. The next story time will take place Feb. 15.
