LIVERMORE – A fire that destroyed a mobile home Thursday night at 69 Sanders Road started in the basement, Livermore Assistant Chief Donald Castonguay said Friday.
A state fire investigator was at the scene Friday trying to determine the exact cause.
Michelle and Jon Adams were at work Thursday when their 14-year-old daughter, Taylor, called to tell them their home was on fire. Taylor and her 9-year-old brother, Daniel, were able to escape the blaze after spotting fire coming up through the floor in her bedroom.
Castonguay said the fire started in the vicinity of a gas water heater, oil furnace and a washer and dryer but it was unknown yet which one caused it.
A gas appliance specialist was coming to review the appliances, Castonguay said.
The family was staying with relatives in Jay.
United Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross assisted the family with vouchers for clothes and food, according to the agency’s statement Friday.
