NEW VINEYARD – A New Vineyard man is facing several charges after he allegedly entered a family member’s home without permission early Friday and threatened the person before taking a snowmobile to elude police, a sheriff’s detective said Friday.
Franklin County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call just after midnight Thursday alleging that Matthew Luce, 34, had entered a New Vineyard family member’s home and verbally threatened to do the occupant bodily harm, sheriff’s Detective David St. Laurent said.
Luce is also alleged to have gone into the person’s garage and taken a snowmobile to make his escape, he said.
Five deputies, a Maine State Police trooper and two Farmington police officers responded to look for Luce, who has a criminal history and is known to the Sheriff’s Department, St. Laurent said.
Deputies looked for Luce until about 5 a.m. Friday and then sought a warrant for his arrest.
Luce is facing charges of felony theft because the snowmobile was valued at more than $1,000 and misdemeanor charges of criminal threatening and criminal trespass, the detective said.
As of 2 p.m. Luce was still at large, he said.
