LEWISTON – Theresa E. Larochelle, 89, formerly of Lisbon passed away on Jan. 20, at Marshwood Health Care Center after a long illness.
She was born in Jay, on March 25, 1916, a daughter of the late Thomas and Alma (Godin) Dumais. She was educated in Lewiston schools. She later went on to work at several positions in the Lewiston and Auburn area.
She married her best friend and soul mate, Wilfred Emile Larochelle at the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston on Sept. 1, 1934. He predeceased her on Feb. 28, 1991.
She was a member and communicant of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and then of the Holy Trinity Parish in Lisbon Falls. She had a great love for cooking, also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, making baby blankets and afghans. She had also enjoyed reading. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her great-great-grandchild.
She is survived by her loving children, sons, Bert Larochelle and wife, Annette, of Sabattus, Fern Larochelle and wife, Louise, of Lisbon Falls, Ray Larochelle and companion, Janice St. Amand, of Bowdoin and Paul Larochelle and wife, Laurie, of Durham; her daughter, Madeleine Schafer and husband, Donald, of Lisbon Falls; three god children, Margaret Perry, of Bowdoin, Georgette Welch of Connecticut and Roger Dumais, of Auburn; her brothers, Antonin (Pete) Dumais, of Lewiston, and Brother Bertrand Dumais, of Canada; a sister, Marieange Moreau and husband, Leo, of Auburn; a sister-in-law, Ida Dumais, of Auburn; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; a son, Normand; brothers, Alphonse (Paul) Dumais, Fernand Dumais, and Thomas Dumais; sisters, Flora Rossignol and Sister Antoinette Dumais; a sisters-in-law, Noella Dumais and Olive Dumais; and a brother-in-law, Louis Rossignol.
A special appreciation and thanks from Theresa’s family goes out to the staff at Marshwood and to the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for all of the love and care that was shown and extended through this most difficult time.
