SALEM – Dirigo made 19 free throws in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 61-41 victory over Mt. Abram 61-41 in varsity girls’ basketball contest Saturday.
Dirigo shot 23-of-26 from the charity stripe for the game.
Michelle Holmquist scored a game-high 22 points and pulled down eight rebounds for Dirigo (11-2). Katie Hutchinson and Holly Knight combined for 25 points, while Katherine Gagne added eight points, five assists and four steals.
Loghan Walker led Mt. Abram (6-7) with 14 points.
Hall-Dale 59, Lisbon 39
LISBON – Chelsey Dionne scored a game-high 19 points to lead Hall-Dale to a 59-39 victory over Lisbon in an MVC girls’ basketball matchup on Saturday. Caitlyn Laflin chipped in with 12 points for Hall-Dale (11-0).
Mindy Sullivan drained 13 points and had 10 rebounds, and Emily Moore had nine points and six steals for Lisbon (0-11).
St. Dom’s 60, Waynflete 30
AUBURN – Junior forward Laura Anderson drained a game-high 13 points and hauled down seven rebounds to lead St. Dom’s to a 60-30 triumph over Waynflete in WMC girls’ basketball action Saturday.
The Saints (8-3) pressured Waynflete early, taking a 21-3 lead in the first quarter. Junior guard Abby Gilbert chipped in with 11 points as the Saints were able to collect field goals almost at will.
The Flyers (7-5) were paced by sophomore guard Margaret Veroneau with nine points.
Hyde 54, Hebron 24
HEBRON – Opal Fleischman poured in a game-high 22 points to carry Hyde to a 54-24 victory over Hebron in a girls’ varsity basketball matchup on Saturday.
Mahalia Gault was the second leading scorer for Hyde (4-4) with 12. Hyde had a comanding 30-8 halftime lead.
Kainani Stevens led Hebron (1-7) with eight points.
Kents Hill 34, Seacoast Christian 27
KENTS HILL – Aleigh Mills dropped in 12 points while teammate Alessandra Rohdy added 10 more as Kents Hill held off Seacoast Christian 34-27 Saturday afternoon.
Mills pulled down 13 rebounds. Kents Hill’s defense was a big factor in the win, finishing with 13 steals.
Kents Hill improves to 7-1 with the win. Liz Trafton led all scorers with 17 points for Seacoast.
Boys’ hockey
Poland/GNG 5, Skowhegan 1
HEBRON – Ryan Gilbert netted a pair of goals and had a pair of assists to lead Poland-Gray New Gloucester to a 5-1 victory over Skowhegan in varsity hockey action on Saturday.
Cory Cormier and Dylan Michaud each had a goal and three assists for Poland/Gray New Gloucester (7-3).
Jesse Demo scored the lone goal for Skowhegan (2-9) at the 11:49 mark of the first period on a power play.
Prep hockey
Hebron 7, New Hampton 3
HEBRON – Six different players found the back of the net for Hebron in a convincing 7-3 vicotry over New Hampton in boys’ hockey action Saturday.
Jordan Krusch led the Lumberjacks (15-6-2) with a pair of goals and an assist. Sasha Romanenko had one goal and three assists, while Matt Pedemonti notched a goal and two assists. Mike Turk added one goal and one assist, while Kyle Tobin and David Woods each scored a goal as well.
Sammy Demerking participated in all three New Hampton goal scoring events, posting a goal and two assists in the loss.
Hebron 4, Proctor 1
HEBRON – Steph Roy scored a pair of goals to lead Hebron to a 4-1 win over Proctor in girls’ prep school action Saturday.
Hebron came out strong as K.J. Forand put the Lumberjacks (10-3-2) on the board six minutes into the first period. Daniella Lyons added a second goal two minutes later. Roy added a third goal with four minutes remaining in the period, assisted by Taylor Fey.
Sarah Mauritz spoiled the shutout with an unassisted tally for the Hornets (14-2-2) at the 6:26 mark.
