LEWISTON – Ernest “Junior” Doucette, 70, of 252 Meadowview Park, died Friday Jan. 20, at his home.
He was born in Lewiston on July 6, 1935 the son of Joseph and Muriel (Turcotte) Doucette. He became a well-known, self-employed businessman in our community, going by the name “Doucette the Painter.” He completed many jobs in town for more than 40 years.
He was a well-liked, warm- hearted man who enjoyed spending his leisure time out at the lake, playing cards, cribbage, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends.
Recently celebrating their 49th anniversary, he married Jacqueline R. Pleau on Oct. 27, 1956.
He was a member of Holy Family Church.
He is survived by his loving family; his wife of Lewiston; a son, Paul Doucette of Maui, Hawaii; three daughters, Susan Brochu of Lewiston, Diane Moody and her husband, Duane, of Turner, and Tina Smith and her husband, Adam, of Wales; three brothers, Henry and his wife, Kathy, of Lewiston, Roland and his wife, Pat, of Lewiston, Ronald and his wife, Helen, of Auburn; a sister, Joanne Lebrun and her husband, Guy, of Sabattus; four granddaughters, Amanda Tissaw and her husband, Mike, of Mesa, Ariz., Melissa Moody of Greene, Rachel Theberge of Lewiston, and Krystle Coleman and her husband, John, of Wales; three great-granddaughters, Mariah, Alexia and Christina; and by his special aunt, Marlene Gendreau, who was like a sister to him.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Singh and his staff, Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice, and especially Caryn Demers RN and Deanna Buzzell CNA, for the wonderful care they gave Junior.
