My friend lives in Tall Pines apartments. I would like to be able to visit from time to time, perhaps have a cup of tea. She does not drive or own a car, yet she has been alotted two parking spaces. I am not allowed to park in either.

No overnight parking would be understandable, but not being allowed to park my vehicle to drop off groceries? I spoke to the manager and was told it would be necessary to park on the street.

There are 12 parking spaces in front of the apartments, and I have seen two being occupied.

I don’t want to be cynical, yet I have witnessed a local towing company “trolling” the neighborhood.

On one evening just before Christmas, I was dropping off gifts there and left the car running. I made a couple of trips to the apartment – time elapsed, possibly 15 minutes. When I came out, the tow truck was backed into position. I later learned an interesting fact. If the tow truck driver actually hooked my vehicle and I stopped him, it would cost $40 cash, on the spot. If I didn’t have it, I could pick my car up that day for $130 cash, and $130 for additional days.

I made a couple phone calls and found out that Tall Pines has an exclusive policy and a seemingly close relationship with that towing company.

There is nothing like cash, when preying on those with limited resources.
