RALEIGH, N.C. – Eric Staal and Justin Williams each had a goal and two assists to help the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Montreal Canadiens 7-3 on Monday night for their eighth straight home victory.
Andrew Ladd and Erik Cole each added a goal and an assist for the Hurricanes, who added another loss to a growing pile of road setbacks for the Canadiens. Montreal has lost seven straight away from home and 16 of its past 17.
Flames 3, Oilers 1
EDMONTON, Alberta – Jarome Iginla scored twice and Miikka Kiprusoff made 30 saves as the Calgary Flames beat the Edmonton Oilers 3-1.
Kristian Huselius also scored and added an assist for Calgary (29-14-5), which has won four straight games to start a five-game road trip.
The Flames moved two points ahead of Vancouver for first place in the Northwest Division.
Flyers 4, Penguins 2
PHILADELPHIA – Mike Knuble scored the go-ahead goal with 2:05 left and Antero Niittymaki stopped 24 shots to lead the Philadelphia Flyers to a 4-2 victory over Pittsburgh, the Penguins 10th straight loss.
Michal Handzus and Petr Nedved also scored for the Flyers, who beat the lowly Penguins for the second time in three days.
Stars 4, Coyotes 1
DALLAS – Sergei Zubov scored the first of Dallas’ four straight goals and Marty Turco made 17 saves to help Dallas end a season-worst, three-game losing streak with a 4-1 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes.
Turco gave up a soft first-period goal to Dave Scatchard before settling down with the help of a tight defensive effort by his teammates. Turco had been pulled in three of his previous six games and had allowed eight goals in the last 22 shots he faced.
Predators 3, Red Wings 2
DETROIT – Scott Hartnell scored in the second period and the Nashville Predators beat Detroit 3-2, keeping the one-goal lead they had when the game was suspended in November after Red Wings defenseman Jiri Fischer collapsed on the bench with cardiac arrest.
Although the teams played a full 60-minute game Monday night, Nashville started with a 1-0 advantage on Greg Johnson’s goal from the game at Detroit on Nov. 21 that was stopped with 7:30 left in the first period.
Senators 4, Maple Leafs 3
OTTAWA – Daniel Alfredsson scored his 30th goal and Dominik Hasek made 23 saves to lead Ottawa to a 4-3 victory over Toronto, the Senators’ second straight home win over the Maple Leafs in three nights.
Mike Fisher, Wade Redden and Bryan Smolinski also scored for Ottawa, which beat Toronto 7-0 on Saturday.
Blues 4, Canucks 0
ST. LOUIS – Curtis Sanford stopped 34 shots for his third shutout of the season and Mike Sillinger scored for the fifth straight game, helping the St. Louis Blues end a nine-game losing streak with a 4-0 victory over Vancouver.
Vladimir Orsagh, Christian Backman and Petr Cajanek also scored for the Blues, whose last victory also came over the Canucks on Jan. 2.
The slump was two games shy of a franchise-record 11-game losing streak earlier this season.
