MEXICO – An organizational meeting of the Mexico Recreation Park Improvement Committee takes place at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at the home of Matthew Gallant at 3 Pleasant St.

Gallant said Friday that the group hopes to raise money for the park and for the Mexico Recreation Center. If possible, he said he’d like to raise enough money to replace the current recreation center in the former Mexico High School on Parker Street.

A major fundraiser, he said, is a planned family outing at the rec park in July. He said he has already lined up singer Bill Chinnock for Monday, July 3, and Motor Booty Affair for Saturday, July 1. He is working on getting another band lined up for Sunday, July 2.

He said Mexico recreation director Greg Arsenault is expected to attend, along with others who are interested in improving recreational opportunities in the town. He said everyone is welcome to attend the meeting and provide suggestions.
