LEWISTON – A “Responding to Child Abuse” course will be offered from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, Feb. 27 through May 22, at Advocates for Children, 57 Birch St.

It is offered two to three times a year for professionals working with children and families. Professionals will provide information covering the many aspects of child abuse and neglect in Androscoggin County.

The 45-hour course, sponsored by Advocates for Children, provides 4.5 Continuing Education Units for teachers and professionals. Institute requirements include attendance, course readings, written papers and a final project. To register, call Advocates for Children at 783-3990.

The course will offer an opportunity to learn more about child abuse and neglect issues from professionals presenting on topics in their fields of expertise. It will also help participants examine how dealing with the issues affects them personally and professionally.
