I congratulate Ogunquit for passing a law barring fast food and chain restaurants. I also congratulate the state of Maryland for taking some of Wal-Mart’s corporate welfare away by making the store pay into the state health care system or supply their employees with better health care. The low incomes of many Wal-Mart employees make them eligible for state health care. That is one form of corporate welfare in this country that makes taxpayers pay more taxes.
Such companies lobby for laws against the general public. And the lobbyists change the process of our justice system so that it works for them, against the public. We need to put business back into the hands of local people.
Some large stores buy most of their products from other countries, taking jobs away from the American people. I find many foreign products to be of poor quality.
