Gov. John Baldacci proved during his State of the State address precisely why he should be re-elected this year. He laid out practical ideas that will move Maine forward, and gave a thorough accounting of the work his administration has done in the past years to get the economic situation of the state back on track and to create opportunity for Maine people.

The governor’s plans for economic development and education address that which our state needs most, a work force ready for the opportunities of the new economy. His specific proposals to improve schools and colleges, support workforce education, organizing redevelopment of the Brunswick Naval Air Station, increasing funding for nursing education and supporting the creative economy will contribute to the education of our citizenry and the economy of our state.
