NORWAY – Bertha P. Johnson, 91, of Oxford, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Greenwood on June 3, 1914, the daughter of Daniel and Sadie Paine. She attended the Little Red Schoolhouse in East Oxford.

She had been employed at B.E. Cole Shoe Shop, Stewart’s and the B & M factory. She married Fred W. Johnson, and he passed away Dec. 6, 1972. She was a member of the South Paris Baptist Church.

She had been a 4-H leader for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, going to Wal-Mart, watching wild birds and spending time with her family, friends and her cockatiel, Chi Chi. She was a Red Sox fan. She loved to watch her son bowl.

She is survived by a son, Rodney Johnson; a daughter, Wanda Johnson; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by four sons, Stanley, Bernard, Kenneth and Freddie; a daughter, Ruby Jack; and two special grandsons, Bradley Paakkonen and Fred Wade Johnson.
