DOVER-FOXCROFT (AP) – A Medway man has died in a fall in an elevator shaft at Brown’s Mills.

Harold Gerry, 73, fell 15 or 20 feet down the shaft and landed on top of the elevator, police said.

Gerry, who was helping a thrift shop move donated clothing, was looking for a dolly Tuesday when he opened the elevator doors and stepped into the dark space.

He was flown to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where he died later that day.
