PARIS – A 50-year-old Paris man was killed Wednesday when he apparently lost control of the ATV he was driving and it flipped over, pinning him beneath it.

A relative found Michael Cooper pinned beneath his ATV on the side of the road, shortly before 7:30 p.m., according to Sgt. Michael Dailey of the Paris Police Department.

The accident occurred on Ryerson Hill Road just feet from his driveway. The road ends at Cooper’s house, Dailey said, adding that Cooper may have been pinned for several hours by the time he was discovered. His body temperature was quite low and, “He had been exposed for some time,” Dailey said.

Responders spent about 1 hours attempting to revive Cooper.

In addition to Paris police, PACE Ambulance, the Paris Fire Department and the Maine Warden’s Service responded to the scene.
