JAY – Police arrested a 17-year-old Jay boy Wednesday on charges of burglary and theft in connection with six handguns stolen from a Main Street gun shop last week.
All of the guns taken from the Gun Vault the night of Jan. 17 have been recovered, Jay Police Chief Larry White Sr. said Wednesday.
With information gathered in a joint effort by Jay and Livermore Falls police and federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents. Jay police Detective Roderick Small and an ATF agent executed a search warrant Wednesday at a residence on Old Jay Hill Road in North Jay, White said.
Four of the handguns were found at that residence, White said, and the other two were found at a different location. He declined to disclose that location due to the ongoing investigation, he said.
Small, the lead investigator, and ATF agents have conducted an extensive investigation since the guns were reported stolen about 9 p.m. Jan. 17, the chief said. The 17-year-old boy was taken to Franklin County jail in Farmington and was to be transported to a juvenile detention center in Charleston, White said.
White said last week that the guns taken were two Davis P-32s, a Glock 22, a Glock 30 short, an H & R Model 622 .22-caliber, and a Smith and Wesson 5906 9 mm. Trace evidence had been found at the scene of the break-in, police said.
