FARMINGTON – The Mt. Blue High School Syncopations are preparing for an April 14 departure to London, England, for a week-long concert tour. The auditioned high school women’s vocal ensemble has performed locally for numerous service clubs and in concerts at area venues.
In December they performed on WSCH TV’s “207.” The next concert appearance will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, in the Maine Capital rotunda prior to the opening session of the legislature. The young women will have opportunity to serve as pages during the legislative sessions.
On Saturday, Feb. 11, the Farmington Lions Club will host a benefit public spaghetti dinner at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall, with the proceeds helping fund the London trip. The Syncopations will perform during the dinner.
The Syncopations are also selling raffle tickets for a November 2006 trip for two to London, England. Included is round-trip airfare, three nights’ lodging, breakfasts and a tour of London. Tickets are available from any member of the ensemble and are $5 each. The winning raffle ticket will be chosen Feb. 11 at the spaghetti supper.
The Syncopations are directed by Carol Shumway, accompanied by Patricia Hayden, both of Farmington. For more information, call 778-5215.
