FARMINGTON – Despite a 22-point effort from senior center Travis Carrier, the University of Maine at Farmington fell to Plymouth State, 78-72, in a men’s basketball game Thursday night.

With the loss, UMF falls to 7-8 on the season, while Plymouth State improves to 13-5.

Carrier scored the first seven points of the game for UMF, which took a 7-6 lead following a dunk at the 15:31 mark of the opening half. Following a Plymouth State layup, Isaac Hutchinson scored on consecutive possessions, hitting a jumper and a 3-pointer to give UMF a 12-8 lead.

Women’s basketball

UNE 60, Wentworth 54

BOSTON, Mass. – Alli Gamache poured in 15 points, puled down 15 rebounds and dished out five assists to lead the University of New England to a 60-54 victory over Wentworth College in a women’s basketball matchup Thursday.

Essie McKinnon chipped in for the Nor’easters (10-6) with 14 points, while Brooke Weston added nine. UNE trailed by six points at the half, then rallied for a 36-point second frame to seal the win.
