LEWISTON – Ann Elizabeth “Betty” Caouette died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Central Maine Medical Center.
She was born on Oct. 8, 1933, in Lewiston, the daughter of Joseph A. and Florida L. LeClair.
On Dec. 26, 1953, she married Robert H. Caouette Sr. They were married 47 years until his death in 2000.
Betty graduated as a class officer from St. Dominic’s High School in 1952.
For many years, Betty owned and operated a medical billing service. She was also a steadfast partner in her husband’s business ventures. Betty devoted many years volunteering her time to the Girl Scouts, and remained active in the St. Dom’s Alumni Association.
She was a loving wife and mother whose home was always filled with family, friends, and laughter. She is survived by her three children, Claire Billhimer and her husband, Skip, Patty Pelletier and her husband, Dan, and Robert Caouette Jr. and his wife, Mary. She is also survived by two very special friends, Annette Clifford and Jessica Rodrigue.
Betty cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren, Jayme and Nicholas Caouette, Megan Emmi, Matt Pelletier and his fiance, Heather Skolfield, and her great-granddaughter, Emma. A smile was surely to come when she heard them call her Mima. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Michelle Pelletier.
Betty also leaves behind her sisters, Ora McGrath, Bertha Libby, Irene Maher, and Connie Labonte; and her brothers, Paul Leclair and Robert LeClair and his wife, Claire.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Irma Donovan, Barney LeClair, Beatrice Parker, Judy Legare and Patricia Ricker.
She will be sadly missed by all the friends she gathered throughout her life, including her classmates from St. Dom’s who continued to meet regularly for lunch, and the Friday afternoon Dubois crowd.
Betty was a very spiritual woman who practiced her Catholic faith through her support of those around her.
