The way of life as we know it in this country will soon be history. Too many, from the president all the way down to people in the local town halls, have taken part in the downfall of this country and our way of life.
Each year, more and more of our blue-collar jobs have gone overseas, leaving a wake of cheap service jobs for minimum wages; wages that all parts of government fight to take from us in the form of taxes, fees and licenses, leaving little for food, clothing and heat for our homes. This is all done for our own good, it is said.
Raises for the president, Congress, senators and, yes, our own governor are in the best interest of all of us, so we are told.
People are losing their jobs, freezing in their homes. Young and old alike are taxed out of their homes and still we are told to turn down the heat and turn off unnecessary lights in order to conserve. People in this country are conserving so much that they are dying from hunger, freezing, fires and sheer hopelessness.
The majority of the people in this country are watching a once-great nation slowly going to its death, not by the hand of any other foreign country, but by the hand of its own deceptive leaders for a fistful of dollars.
Sad, isn’t it?
Phillip Webber Sr., Sabattus
