PORTLAND – Massachusetts-based band Staind will be appearing at the State Theater on Saturday, bringing all the soul-searching moodiness of frontman Aaron Lewis to town.

While their last album, “Chapter V” (2005) received mixed reviews from music critics and fans, the band is known for solid live performances, and several of their albums have hit platinum sales in the span of their more than 10-year career.

Expect everything from brooding music that has been described as nu metal and neo grunge, to more melodic ballads. This four-man group has been compared to bands like Alice In Chains, Pantera and Limp Bizkit (Bizkit’s own Fred Durst is reported to have helped Staind get off the ground).

Band members include Lewis on vocals, Mike Mushok on guitar, Jon Wysocki on drums and Johnny April on bass.
