RANGELEY – Justin Gallant poured in 20 points Wednesday evening and helped Rangeley pull of a come-from-behind 48-46 victory over Gould in boy’s basketball action.
Rangeley (10-4) trailed by eight at the break, then went on a 32-22 run in the second half to gain control and record the win.
David Jensen chipped in for the Lakers with nine points, while David Raymond added eight.
T.L. Tutor led Gould with a 13-point performance, while Thomas Kuemmell and Evan Bruens tallied nine apiece.
Morse 56, Leavitt 54
TURNER – Josh Tuplin poured in 18 points as Morse just edged past Leavitt, posting a 56-54 win in a boys’ KVAC hoops matchup Wednesday.
The game was tied at the end of the fourth quarter, when Tuplin shot at the buzzer.
The ball bounced on the rim once before dropping in to give Morse the dramatic win. Joe Clancy added 17 points for the Shipbuilders (6-9).
The Hornets (3-12) saw a solid performance by Tyler Millett with 20 points, and Cam Angell with 15 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Buckfield 57, Pine Tree 49
BUCKFIELD – Justin Dodge drained 15 points Wednesday to pace Buckfield to a 57-49 victory over Pine Tree Academy in boys’ hoops action.
Jeffrey Bennett chipped in for the Bucks (7-7) with 13 points and an amazing 19 rebounds, while Jamie Henderson added 10.
Pine Tree (10-5) was paced by Ben Goodall with a game-high 21 points, while Cody Louder added 12.
Buckfield jumped out to a 22-15 advantage in the first quarter and never trailed.
Hockey
Leavitt 6, Win-Dale 3
AUBURN – Justin Rouillard tallied a pair of goals and was credited with a pair of assists as Leavitt topped Win-Dale 6-3 in hockey Wednesday evening.
Evan Longchamps, Nick Bourgoin, Justin Kent, and Steve Rouillard each added a goal for the Hornets (11-4) win as well. Rich Thibault made 37 saves for the win.
Win-Dale (8-4) was led by Mike Fleischmann with two goals, while Russ Schmelzer rounded out the scoring effort.
Girls’ basketball
Rangeley 53, Gould 35
RANGELEY – Freshman Angela White provided 12 points, six steals, and six rebounds, leading Rangeley to a 53-35 win over Gould in girls’ hoops action Wednesday.
Nicole Crupi added 11 points, while twin-sister Hayley White contributed 10 points to the Lakers’ (10-4) win.
Rangeley outscored Gould (8-6) 22-2 in the second quarter to help pull away with the lead.
The Huskies’ effort was led by Heather Kelletier with a game-high 17 points.
Kents Hill 63, Averill 18
KENTS HILL – Aleigh Mills had a strong game, pouring in a game-high 14 points and 11 rebounds as Kents Hill rolled over Averill 63-18 in girls’ basketball Wednesday.
The Kents Hill (10-2) team had a combined 16 steals in the game, led by Jane Pavalkis with five. Lilianne Pettengill added 13 points to the Huskies win, while Emelda Ogweta and Alessandra Rohde each tallied 10 apiece. The Huskies had a commanding lead at the half, 40-6, and continued to dominate throughout the rest of the contest. Dorothy Leighton downed 11 points for Averill (0-13).
Morse 59, Leavitt 42
BATH – Jill Henrikson paved the way with 19 points as Morse defeated Leavitt 59-42 in girls’ hoops action Wednesday night. Kate Ross added 15 points to the Shipbuilders’ win, extending their record to 12-1.
The Hornets (0-13) were led by Ashley Naylor with 11 points, while Stephanie Healy contributed 10.
