Legion meeting

SABATTUS – American Legion Post 135 and Auxiliary will meet at the Island Road post home at 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6. An executive session will be held at 7. The Androscoggin County meeting will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at the post.

Lodge program

AUBURN – Liberty Rebekah Lodge 94 will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at the Odd Fellows Hall, 50 Elm St., for a social time, with snacks provided by Doreen Locke. A regular meeting will be at 7. The program will be on cancer awareness. All Rebekahs are welcome.

Lodge degree

AUBURN – A special meeting of Ancient Brothers Lodge 178, AF and AM, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. Officers will confer the Master Mason’s Degree. The meeting will be preceded by a supper at 6:30 p.m. All Masons are welcome.

Breastfeeding

AUBURN – Expectant women and breastfeeding mothers are invited to the La Leche League meeting at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 102 Bennett Ave. Babies are always welcome.

This month’s discussion, “Great Beginnings: Establishing and Maintaining Breastfeeding,” will focus on preparing to nurse babies at birth and adjusting to babies’ changing needs as a family. All concerns about breastfeeding are welcome for discussion.

Sewing projects

WLU speaker

AUBURN – The Woman’s Literary Union, 19 Elm St., will return after a two-month hiatus, meeting at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9.

Kim Wettlaufer, executive director, and Calvin Dube, program director, will explain the Trinity Jubilee Center program.

Hostesses will be Teresa St. Pierre and Muguette Ouellette, with WLU President Cathy Westleigh in charge of house decorations. Refreshments will be served. All WLU meetings are open to the public.

Hockey visit

LISBON – The Lisbon Library Department has announced the second annual visit by representatives of the Lewiston Maineiac hockey team at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, in the Children’s Room.

At least one hockey player will be present to read a story and answer questions about life as a hockey player. “Lewey” the Mascot might be able to make an appearance, depending on his schedule.

A drawing for free Maineiac memorabilia will be held, and a chance for photos with the hockey players will conclude the free event.

Preregistration by Saturday, Feb. 18, is required. It is necessary to enter the Lisbon Falls Community Library for preregistration and to pick up admission tickets. Admittance will not be permitted without a ticket on the day of the event. For more information, call the library at 353-6564.

Women’s program

TOPSHAM – The Mid Coast Women’s Connection will present “How To Believe In Your Dreams and Make Them Come True” with Rhoda Mitchell from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the Topsham Public Library. Admission is free.

Mitchell is a life coach who helps individuals to be successful in their lives and work. She can be reached at 774-0816 or nleaves@aol.com.

The connection, a local nonprofit networking group, helps build and support women in business by providing opportunities for networking, skill building and personal enrichment through free monthly meetings.
