BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) – Ryan Miller made 21 saves to win his fourth straight game, and four different players scored for the Buffalo Sabres in a 4-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night.

Miller is 6-1 in his last seven starts.

Taylor Pyatt, Brian Campbell, Jochen Hecht, and Jason Pominville scored for the Sabres, who have won four in a row.

Simon Gagne and Mike Knuble scored for the Flyers, who were playing without the injured Peter Forsberg (groin). Philadelphia has lost three of four.

Miller made two spectacular saves in the second period to help preserve the win, including robbing Philadelphia forward R.J. Umberger with a sliding, right toe save. The rookie also stopped Jeff Carter late in the second with another sliding, right leg save when the Sabres were two-men short.

Gagne gave Philadelphia 1-0 lead 12 minutes into the first period with his 35th goal, tying the league-lead. Standing alone in the slot, Gagne snapped a wrist shot that hit the post, but then caromed off the back of Miller and into the net.

Buffalo tied it three minutes later on Pyatt’s fourth of the year. During a scramble in front, Pyatt was able to corral a loose puck and lift it over goalie Robert Esche on the back hand.

Campbell scored his ninth of the year early in the second, sending a quick wrist shot into the top left corner to give Buffalo a 2-1 lead.

Hecht made it 3-1 with his 14th of the season with 7:42 left in the middle frame, but Knuble scored his 23rd with about three minutes remaining in regulation to make it 3-2.

Pominville scored an empty-net goal with 7.1 seconds left.

Esche finished with 33 saves in his fourth start since returning from a groin injury.

The Sabres haven’t lost to Philadelphia in Buffalo in the last seven games.
